Handling Different Wind Directions. “Golf Game Tips”
WIND AT YOUR BACK: Extra yards are likely, but be careful because the tendency is to get excited and swing too hard, resulting in a poor strike of the ball. Stay under control and relaxed.
WIND IN YOUR FACE: Keep the ball low. Grab an extra club or two, choke down slightly and place the ball back in your stance to keep the launch angle down as well as the ball spin. Swing the club 3/4 speed. This will decrease the lift potential of the golf ball at impact.
WIND SIDE TO SIDE: Again, extra club, choke down, ball back in your stance and 3/4 swing. Adjust your aim towards the direction of the wind incrementally while maintaining a projected safe zone landing area.
Play conservatively, as wind magnifies mistakes.
