Lead Master Instructor David Armitage. “Grass Whip Drill.” (I’m paraphrasing)
Some call it the “machine gun drill”. The idea is to prevent yourself from getting frozen over the golf ball and free yourself up to swing the club and hit the ball without thinking too much or getting to mechanical over the ball. Take 5 golf balls, place them in a line approximately 5 inches apart. Take an 8 iron, address the first ball and strike it 2/3 speed. As you complete the swing, go right into a back swing for the next ball as you make a slight movement forward towards the next ball in line. Continue this to the last ball. You should get the feeling of swinging with more ease. Also, kind of fun too!
